Te Koraha, Rangi Ruru Girls’ School
Every now and then you get the chance to create history. After the Canterbury quakes we were asked to be involved with the restoration program at Te Koraha homestead, in the heart of Rangi Ruru Girls’ School.
The house required major restoration work, so we provided a full decommissioning of the electrical services, including removal of all light fittings, switches and socket outlets before the building was repaired. We then had to clearly indentify all electrical circuits, remove all redundant cabling and perform a comprehensive testing to ensure the buildings electrical safety.
Once the new linings were completed we set about the re-instating of the electrical services. In addition we also installed some additional energy efficient feature lighting with the use of LED fittings and dimmable fluorescent circuits.
It was a wonderfully rewarding experience seeing this grand old building restored back to all of its glory and being part of that process, especially as we Cantabrians are short of historic buildings.
